ILLINOIS—Screw the governor, screw the attorney general, and screw anyone who gets in the way of what the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals has already ruled as of last December.
Individual counties in Illinois are taking steps to control what goes on within their borders, and as of Monday this coming week, some are telling their citizens: “Go ahead and carry concealed, under these specific guidelines, and if you do as this proscribes, you WILL NOT BE PROSECUTED.”
As being announced in regular posts by Pass Conceal Carry Illinois, a Facebook page that has taken the lead online in getting people fired up to take action with their legislators over Illinois’ gun-control issue and of getting the latest news about the efforts of both pro-gun and gun-grabber advocates, they’ve been posting these letters on the page today:
Another just went up not long ago, with some clarification:
Pass Conceal Carry Illinois is being careful to note that this is for MADISON COUNTY ONLY (it’s on the west side of the state, part of the Metro-East). But the push is on for other counties to follow suit. Because counties, being the smallest unit of government mandated by the Constitution, ARE THEIR OWN ENTITY, and the sheriff and prosecutor can choose to follow the Constitution and NOT arrest/charge a law-abiding citizen for carrying. And once we’re past the court-ordered mandate of June 9, they are perfectly within their rights to do this.
So now, the other counties need to follow suit.
These letters can act as templates. Print them off and take them to your sheriff and your prosecutor (unless, of course, you’re in a county like Richland where even law-abiding gun owners, using weapons when they’re in fear for their lives or are on their own property and using them lawfully and safely), and ask if they’ll sign on to this push. The dominoes need to topple over. This is a peaceable way to do it. We have the RIGHT to carry weapons (“bear arms”) wherever we go; the Constitution says so, and it cannot be abrogated. Get on it. Let’s do what WE THE PEOPLE do to PRESERVE OUR RIGHTS.
